A determined group of Walton County residents rallied on the steps of the Historic Courthouse, urging county leaders to roll back a recent 19.55% property tax hike.
Though fewer than 20 protestors gathered, they delivered over 3,300 petition signatures in just six days, reflecting widespread frustration with the county’s decision.

Residents expressed anger that their voices were being dismissed, and several criticized the Board—especially Chairman David Thompson—for what they called a lack of transparency and respect.
Many questioned the justification for the increase, including cited jail operating costs.
Despite community efforts, the required votes to reverse the hike are lacking, but opponents vowed to keep fighting for local taxpayers. Read More... |
