From serious wing competition to crowd-favorite eating contests, Loganville’s signature food event is gearing up for another high-energy year at Town Green |
Loganville’s most anticipated food event is officially back, and this time, it’s already building serious momentum.
Registration is now open for the 11th Annual Loganville Wing Fling, setting the stage for what is expected to be another packed, high-energy day filled with competition, community, and more wings than you can count.
Scheduled for Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Loganville Town Green on Pecan Street, the Wing Fling has grown into one of the area’s most recognizable annual events—drawing large crowds, passionate competitors, and a wide range of local businesses all into one place.
At the center of the event is the Wing Cooking Contest, where competitors from across the community step up to prove they have the best wings around. And this isn’t limited to restaurants.
Organizers are opening the competition to everyone—from established restauranteurs and food vendors to backyard grill masters who have built a reputation among friends and family. If you’ve ever had people tell you that your wings are the best they’ve ever had, this is where you find out if that reputation holds up.
The stakes are real.
Competitors will battle for a $500 grand prize, the coveted chicken trophy, and the kind of bragging rights that don’t fade anytime soon. Winning Wing Fling isn’t just about one afternoon—it’s about being recognized as one of the best in the area. Those interested in competing, setting up a booth, or sponsoring the event can register now at
Beyond the competition, the Wing Fling delivers a full festival atmosphere that keeps the Town Green busy from start to finish. Attendees can expect a wide variety of vendors, artisans, and local businesses set up throughout the event, creating an environment where people can explore, shop, and connect while enjoying the food and entertainment.
For businesses, the event provides a unique opportunity to engage directly with a large, local audience in a setting that encourages interaction. Whether promoting services, selling products, or simply building awareness, vendors consistently benefit from the strong turnout and energy the Wing Fling brings each year.
Sponsorship opportunities are also available, offering businesses multiple levels of visibility throughout the event. From community sponsors to top-tier presenting sponsors, companies can position their brand in front of a large crowd while aligning with one of Loganville’s most popular annual traditions.
Another major highlight of the day is the wing eating contests, which have become one of the most anticipated and entertaining parts of the event. Competitors go head-to-head to see who can consume the most wings in a limited time, while the crowd gathers to cheer them on. It’s fast-paced, competitive, and consistently draws some of the loudest reactions of the day.
While the food and competition bring the excitement, the purpose behind the Wing Fling is what gives the event lasting impact. The event is organized by the Loganville Rotary Club, and serves as a major fundraiser supporting local charities, service projects, and community initiatives. Each year, proceeds from the event are reinvested back into the community, making participation meaningful beyond just the experience itself.
With registration now open and anticipation already building, organizers expect strong participation across all categories—from cookers and vendors to sponsors and competitors.
For Loganville, the Wing Fling isn’t just another event on the calendar. It’s a day where competition, community, and a shared love of great food all come together—and for those involved, it’s an experience that delivers long after the final wing is gone. |
Whataburger Opens in Loganville with Huge Crowd, Free Burgers, and Big Energy |
Fans lined up the night before as Loganville welcomed its newest fast-food hotspot in a big way |
Loganville officially got a taste of Texas this week as Whataburger opened its doors on Monday, March 23rd—and it was nothing short of an event.
This wasn’t your typical “soft opening and see who shows up” kind of day. This was full-on excitement, energy, and a line that started forming long before sunrise… actually, long before midnight.
The Line Started at 9PM the Night Before
That’s right—people began lining up around 9:00 PM the night before just to be among the first inside. And they had a pretty strong incentive. Whataburger was giving away free burgers for a year to the first 50 people, and that was more than enough to bring out some seriously dedicated fans. By the time morning rolled around, the line had turned into a full crowd, with people swapping stories, taking photos, and counting down the minutes.
A Ribbon Cutting with a Packed House
The official ribbon cutting was handled by the Walton County Chamber of Commerce, and it felt like the entire community showed up to celebrate.
The crowd included:
It had the feel of a major grand opening—not just for a restaurant, but for something people had genuinely been waiting for.
The Food: Worth the Hype
Of course, the real question is… how was the food?
I had the chance to try the Bacon & Cheese Burger, and it absolutely delivered. Big, flavorful, and very filling—the kind of burger where you’re not looking for anything else after you finish it.
The fries were exactly what you want—hot, crispy, and a perfect pairing. And then there’s the spicy ketchup, which honestly deserves its own spotlight. It’s one of those things you try once and immediately get why people talk about it.
To top it all off, I grabbed a shake—and just like everything else, it didn’t disappoint. Thick, smooth, and a perfect finish to the meal.
A Big Win for Loganville
Between the massive turnout, the excitement around the giveaway, and the quality of the food, this opening was a clear success.
Whataburger didn’t just open a new location—they made a statement. And based on the crowd, the buzz, and the experience… Loganville is more than ready for it. |

Piedmont Walton Unveils Upgraded Imaging Department with Advanced MRI Technology |
State-of-the-art MRI machines deliver higher resolution imaging, improved patient experience, and expanded diagnostic capabilities for the region |
Today, I attended the grand opening of the newly updated imaging department at Piedmont Walton Hospital, and the upgrades are not just cosmetic—they represent a significant leap forward in diagnostic technology for the community.
At the center of the expansion are brand-new MRI machines designed to produce dramatically higher resolution images. This means physicians can now see finer detail than ever before, allowing for earlier detection of conditions, more accurate diagnoses, and better-informed treatment plans.
What MRI Machines Actually Do
MRI stands for Magnetic Resonance Imaging. Unlike X-rays or CT scans, MRI machines do not use radiation. Instead, they use powerful magnets and radio waves to create highly detailed images of organs, soft tissues, the brain, spine, joints, and more.
This makes MRI especially valuable for:
With higher resolution imaging, even subtle changes or early-stage issues that may have previously gone unnoticed can now be identified more clearly.
Why This Matters for Patients—and the Hospital
From a patient standpoint, this upgrade means faster, more accurate answers and potentially earlier treatment. But from a broader healthcare and business perspective, these new machines are a major strategic investment.
Physicians from outside practices often refer patients to facilities with the best imaging capabilities. With these new high-resolution MRI systems, Piedmont Walton is now positioned to attract significantly more referrals from doctors throughout the region.
That translates directly into increased patient volume and revenue—while also strengthening the hospital’s reputation as a leading provider of advanced medical imaging in Northeast Georgia.
A Big Win for the Community
This isn’t just about new equipment—it’s about elevating the level of care available locally. Patients who may have previously needed to travel to larger metro hospitals for advanced imaging can now receive that same level of diagnostic precision right here in Walton County.
The upgraded imaging department at Piedmont Walton represents a clear investment in both patient outcomes and the future of healthcare in the area—and based on what was unveiled today, it’s a move that’s going to pay off on both fronts. |
