Loganville has launched an ambitious, year-long effort to fully rewrite its zoning ordinance, aiming for a future that better reflects local values and priorities.
More than two dozen people, including Mayor Branden Whitfield and City Council members, attended the Feb. 3 kickoff of the process, which is led by Tennessee-based Town Planning & Urban Design Collaborative (TPUDC).
The $272,511 contract was backed by Councilwoman Lisa Newberry to address frustrations with the city’s current, often inconsistent zoning process.
TPUDC’s Brian Wright emphasized the need for resident input at every step, encouraging the community to help define Loganville’s unique character.
The next major public event, “Codeapalooza,” runs Feb. 23–25 at City Hall, featuring drop-in sessions and workshops for hands-on engagement.
The goal is to replace contradictory rules, protect valued neighborhoods, and guide development in a way that ensures predictability and growth for everyone. Read More... |
Guthrie’s Chicken Fingers in Grayson closed permanently on February 10, 2026, after just a year serving the local community.
Founded in 1965 in Alabama, Guthrie’s is known as the original chicken finger restaurant, famous for its fresh, hand-breaded chicken fingers, crinkle-cut fries, Texas toast, coleslaw, and a signature tangy sauce.
This sauce and Guthrie’s sweet tea have inspired loyal fans across the Southeast, helping the chain become a regional favorite.
Despite its short stint in Grayson, the restaurant quickly became a reliable spot for simple, high-quality meals, earning devoted local customers.
The shutdown leaves regulars missing the classic Southern flavors and unique charm Guthrie’s brought to town.
While Guthrie’s continues to thrive in other markets, its brief stay in Grayson reminds locals that even celebrated brands don’t always become permanent fixtures in every community. Read More... |
