Two people were seriously injured in a helicopter crash near Monroe, Walton County, on Wednesday morning, September 10.
The incident occurred on Mount Paran Church Road around 10:54 a.m., prompting a rapid response from the Walton County Sheriff’s Office and Fire Rescue teams.
The helicopter was engulfed in flames and burned completely, according to Deputy Chief Craig League.
The cause of the crash remains unknown.
Both the pilot and passenger sustained serious injuries and were rushed by Walton County EMS to Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital.
Their current conditions have not been disclosed.
The FAA and NTSB are investigating the circumstances behind the crash and wreckage. Read More... |

Keaton Schmidt, a beloved member of the Atlanta skateboarding scene, tragically passed away in a motorcycle accident on Highway 78 in Loganville on August 8, 2025.
The crash occurred at the intersection of Athens Highway and Langley Road, where Schmidt’s motorcycle collided with a turning vehicle.
Despite emergency medical efforts, Schmidt did not survive, according to the Gwinnett County Police, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Friends Kimberly Bradshaw and Summerlin O’Neill have organized a GoFundMe to help the family with unexpected expenses.
Schmidt was remembered as a generous, outgoing force in the community—a talented mechanic and mentor to young skaters across Gwinnett and Metro Atlanta.
