Loganville native Deivon Smith is generating excitement in his hometown after signing a Summer League contract with the Atlanta Hawks. Once a standout at Grayson High, Smith was a highly ranked recruit in 2020 and played college basketball at Mississippi State, Georgia Tech, Utah, and most recently St. John’s. His journey through multiple college programs demonstrated his resilience and development as a player. At St. John’s last season, Smith contributed to the team’s Big East double championship, averaging impressive stats and standing out as a reliable scorer and leader. Now, returning to Georgia, he has the chance to prove himself in front of NBA coaches and scouts. While his current contract isn’t guaranteed, the Summer League offers Smith a valuable opportunity to earn a permanent spot with the Hawks.
