Loganville’s Jennifer Wiggins earned recognition for her original research at the Southeastern Psychology Association (SEPA) conference in Atlanta this April, joining fellow University of North Georgia (UNG) students and faculty.
The annual event brought together participants from across the Southeast to showcase innovative work in psychology, with UNG contributing 25 diverse presentations driven by Honors projects, independent research, and FUSE initiatives—many supported by competitive grants.
Wiggins was among 28 student researchers and 12 faculty representing UNG’s Psychological Science department, highlighting the university’s emphasis on hands-on learning and career readiness.
The team explored vital issues including exercise and memory, the effects of energy drinks and alcohol on anxiety, and the influence of mindfulness in relationships.
These experiences deepened students’ expertise and connected them with peers from across the country, reinforcing UNG’s reputation as a leader in undergraduate psychology research. Read More... |
Loganville’s O’Kelly Memorial Library transformed into a festive royal court on National Book Lovers Day, as Project Crown — led by Mrs. Georgia American, Dr. Shanita Williams — welcomed 87 children and their families for a morning of storytelling, celebration, and community joy.
Each child received a crown and the title “Royal Reader,” walking a red carpet cheered on by loved ones, creating an empowering atmosphere.
Library Manager Avion Brisbane oversaw an event that sparked renewed excitement for books, with dozens of new library cards issued and families from more than a dozen schools participating.
A student panel highlighted young readers’ tips and experiences, inspiring parents and attendees alike.
Local leaders including Mayor Skip Baliles and school officials praised Dr. Williams’ impact, noting the positive influence on Logansville’s youth.
