🍗 Truett’s Chick‑fil‑A Grayson: A New Taste of Legacy Arrives July 3 |
Grayson, GA — A new chapter in Chick-fil-A’s legacy will begin on Thursday, July 3, when Truett’s Chick-fil-A opens its doors at 2880 Loganville Highway. This marks the latest addition to a small, innovative chain of restaurants named in honor of S. Truett Cathy, the beloved founder of Chick-fil-A.
Unlike a typical Chick-fil-A, Truett’s locations are designed to reflect Cathy’s original vision: a place where guests can feel like family, enjoy hearty Southern meals, and experience hospitality that goes beyond the drive-thru window. The Grayson restaurant will become the fifth Truett’s Chick-fil-A in Georgia, joining others in Newnan, Rome, Stockbridge, and Woodstock.
What sets this location apart is its three-pronged service approach. Guests will be able to choose between a traditional full-service sit-down experience, a walk-up counter, or a convenient drive-thru. This flexibility allows the restaurant to cater to both busy commuters and families seeking a more leisurely meal together.
Inside, the space is designed to immerse visitors in Cathy’s story. Décor elements include personal photographs, inspirational quotes, and even nods to the founder’s early ventures. A bronze statue of Cathy is planned for the entrance—a warm tribute to the man behind the brand.
The menu will include beloved Chick-fil-A staples alongside exclusive Truett’s dishes, such as Southern-style sides, fried pickles, and loaded waffle fries. These additions are part of the restaurant’s mission to expand on its classic offerings while staying true to its roots.
Ahead of the opening, private preview events are scheduled for June 30 and July 1. These “training meals” will give team members an opportunity to perfect operations and introduce locals to the new dining experience.
The opening of Truett’s Chick-fil-A is expected to bring more than 100 jobs to the area and provide a new gathering place for the Grayson community. With a layout that balances innovation and tradition, the new location is poised to become both a dining destination and a point of local pride.
As opening day approaches, residents can expect excitement to grow—not just for the food, but for the experience that awaits inside. In a time when fast food often feels impersonal, Truett’s Chick-fil-A promises to be something more: a restaurant with a story, a legacy, and a heart. |

Local Hero Spotlight: Marcia Blazer, Gwinnett's Quiet Superhero |
Gwinnett County, GA — In a world where acts of kindness often go unnoticed, Marcia Blazer of Gwinnett County stands out as a shining example of quiet heroism. Though she may not seek the spotlight, her impact speaks volumes, particularly for children facing extraordinary medical challenges.
For over a decade, Marcia has been on a mission to bring joy and empowerment to medically fragile children by crafting vibrant superhero capes and whimsical tutus. These handmade gifts are more than just costumes; they are symbols of strength and hope, lovingly stitched by someone who believes every child deserves to feel brave and beautiful.
Since 2012, Marcia has donated thousands of capes—more than 800 in the past two years alone. Her dedication is unwavering, often spending late nights at her sewing machine or organizing volunteer gatherings in local community centers. Her creations have reached children across hospitals and care facilities throughout the region, including many that serve families in and around Loganville.
What makes Marcia's story so compelling isn't just the volume of her contributions, but the heart behind each one. She doesn't operate a large nonprofit or run fundraising campaigns. Instead, she simply shows up, time and time again, driven by compassion and a deep desire to make a difference. Her home serves as a production studio, filled with bolts of colorful fabric, spools of thread, and an unwavering spirit of generosity.
Marcia's work reminds us that heroism doesn’t always come with capes—sometimes, it is the cape. And while her focus is always on the children she serves, her story inspires an entire community. From neighbors to fellow volunteers, everyone touched by her efforts walks away reminded of the power in small, selfless acts.
As we look around our own neighborhoods in Loganville, may we take a page from Marcia Blazer's book: to act with kindness, give without expectation, and lift others with whatever tools we have at our disposal—even if that’s just a needle, thread, and a heart full of hope.

Loganville Barber Fighting Deportation Amid Protests |
Loganville, GA — Rodney Taylor, a 46-year-old resident of Loganville , was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in January and currently faces deportation proceedings. Taylor, a double amputee and father of seven in a blended family, has lived in the United States since the age of two after arriving from Liberia for medical treatment.
Taylor operated a barbershop and had been living and working under a permit. According to his attorney, his current immigration case stems from a burglary conviction when he was 16. Taylor was granted a pardon by the Georgia Board of Pardons and Parole in 2010, which he believed resolved the issue.
His arrest took place outside his Loganville residence in front of his fiancée and children. His family and legal team have raised concerns about his health while in custody at Stewart Detention Center, specifically citing problems with ill-fitting prosthetics that reportedly cause significant discomfort.
Attorney Sarah Owings stated that Taylor’s pardon should have precluded ongoing detention and deportation proceedings, emphasizing that ICE has discretion to release individuals with similar circumstances. However, ICE officials have indicated that Taylor’s pardon was not comprehensive and does not qualify him for permanent residency.
Taylor’s deportation hearing is scheduled for next week. Advocates, including his family and local community members, have organized demonstrations urging his release and return home. |
