Officer Michael Beasley Named Piedmont Walton First Friday Hero for Life-Saving ResponseBy Ray Lane, Loganville Pulse Staff Writer |
Loganville, GA — Officer Michael Beasley of the Loganville Police Department has been honored with the Piedmont Walton First Friday Hero Award for February 2025, recognizing his extraordinary heroism during a recent emergency response that helped save a man’s life.
On the day in question, Officer Beasley was dispatched to the scene of a 9-1-1 call involving a male victim suffering from a severe gunshot wound. Upon arrival, he found the man conscious but bleeding heavily. Demonstrating both bravery and composure, Beasley immediately knelt beside the victim — in a pool of blood — and applied direct pressure to the wounds, working tirelessly to control the bleeding.
As the victim pleaded for his life, Officer Beasley provided reassurance and promised to do everything he could to help. According to medical professionals, Beasley’s swift, calm, and decisive actions were instrumental in keeping the man alive until further medical help could arrive.
“Officer Beasley fulfilled the highest obligation to the citizens he serves,” said Loganville Police Chief M.D. Lowry, who praised Beasley’s performance. The officer also received a letter of commendation from the department for his courageous and life-saving intervention.
Piedmont Walton CEO Blake Watts emphasized the vital role first responders play in community safety. “Their line of work is often dangerous and thankless, but incredibly impactful,” Watts said. “The First Friday Hero award helps highlight the critical, positive differences these professionals make.”
Launched in 2024, the First Friday Hero program at Piedmont Walton recognizes first responders in Walton County who go above and beyond the call of duty. Officer Beasley is the fifth recipient of this prestigious honor.
Community members who wish to nominate a local first responder for future recognition can submit nominations to firstfridayherowalton@piedmont.org, including the nominee’s name, agency, and a description of their heroic actions. |
