Rezoning Proposal Could Reshape Loganville’s Twin Lakes Road Corridor |
LOGANVILLE, GA — A major rezoning proposal is currently under review in Loganville, potentially paving the way for a significant new residential development along Twin Lakes Road. The plan, submitted by Twin Lakes Road LLC and represented by the law firm Mahaffey Pickens Tucker, requests a change from CH (Commercial Highway) to RM‑6 (Residential Multifamily) for a 27.85-acre parcel located within Walton County.
If approved, the rezoning would allow for the construction of up to 149 residential units, possibly including townhomes or small-scale multifamily dwellings. This marks a notable shift from the site's current commercial designation, signaling a move toward more diverse housing options in the city’s growth strategy.
According to the application, the RM‑6 designation offers a better transition between surrounding single-family neighborhoods and nearby commercial areas. The proposal aligns with Loganville’s Comprehensive Plan, which aims to support housing diversity while maintaining neighborhood character. Developers argue that the site is well-suited for residential use due to existing road access and planned infrastructure improvements.
City planning staff have conducted a thorough analysis of the potential impact, reviewing elements such as traffic patterns, utility access, stormwater management, and environmental considerations. Their findings prompted a list of recommended zoning conditions. These include increased green space, improved landscaping buffers along Twin Lakes Road, and architectural guidelines to ensure visual compatibility with neighboring homes.
The Loganville City Council held a vote on the proposal during their regular meeting yesterday, though results were not immediately available at the time of writing. Regardless of the outcome, the case has sparked community interest, with residents watching closely how local leadership balances growth pressures with quality-of-life concerns.
If the rezoning is approved, the next steps would involve detailed site planning, permitting, and eventual construction. The project could bring both new housing inventory and added density to the city, underscoring Loganville’s ongoing evolution as a hub for suburban development in Walton County. |

Grayson’s Caleb Holt Transfers to Prolific Prep for Senior Season |
GRAYSON, GA – Caleb Holt, a five-star basketball phenom who recently starred at Grayson High School, has announced that he will transfer to Prolific Prep in Napa, California for his senior season.
Holt, originally from New Market, Alabama, spent the past season making a major impact on the Loganville sports scene while attending Grayson. His dominance on the court earned him national attention, culminating in his most recent accolade — MVP honors at the Adidas Eurocamp in Treviso, Italy, where he helped lead his team to a championship.
The news of his transfer was first shared by ESPN’s Paul Biancardi, who also noted Holt’s leadership and productivity on the international stage. Standing at 6-foot-5 with a 6-foot-9 wingspan, Holt has become one of the most physically imposing and highly recruited perimeter players in the country. He’s currently ranked No. 7 nationally in the Class of 2026.
Grayson fans have watched his rise closely, and Holt’s move is a major shift not only for his career but for the Loganville basketball community. His time at Grayson saw visits from major college programs — including new Kentucky head coach Mark Pope — and his intensity and work ethic left a strong impression on the local court.
In addition to his high school achievements, Holt has worn Team USA’s colors, contributing to a gold medal at the 2023 FIBA Americas U16 Championship, and attending national training camps as recently as this spring.
Prolific Prep, his new home, has an impressive track record — producing NBA players such as Jalen Green, Gary Trent Jr., Yves Missi, and Adem Bona. Holt will join that elite pipeline as he heads into a pivotal senior year.
While his departure is a loss for Grayson and the Loganville area, Holt’s next chapter will be watched with pride by the community that helped elevate his game.
