Ribbon Cut at Walton County YMCA: A New Era of Wellness and Community Begins
By Ray Lane, Loganville Pulse Staff Writer

Excitement and celebration filled the air on Tuesday, April 22, as local leaders, YMCA staff, and community members gathered to officially cut the ribbon on the brand-new Walton County YMCA. The state-of-the-art facility, located at 1101 Double Springs Church Road Connector in Monroe, is now open and ready to serve families across Walton County and surrounding communities.

The ribbon cutting marked the official completion of the 38,000-square-foot facility, a collaborative project between the YMCA of Georgia’s Piedmont, Carroll Daniel Construction, Walton County Board of Commissioners, and the Georgia State Financing and Investment Commission. Designed by Clark Patterson Lee, the building stands as a modern beacon of wellness, learning, and community connection.

The new YMCA is packed with amenities to support healthy living for all ages, including:

  • A fully equipped fitness center with cardio and strength training equipment

  • Group fitness studios for yoga, HIIT, and wellness classes

  • An indoor walking track

  • A gymnasium for sports and events

  • Locker rooms and family changing areas

  • And a stunning eight-lane competition swimming pool

During the ceremony, speakers from across the region shared stories of how the YMCA’s mission of “youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility” has already begun to impact lives. Community members were invited to tour the facility, explore membership options, and learn about the wide range of youth programs, fitness classes, and swim lessons available.

“This is more than a gym—it’s a place where lives are changed, friendships are built, and our community comes together,” said one of the speakers during the event.

The Walton County YMCA is now fully operational and accepting new members. With its beautiful modern layout, welcoming environment, and diverse programming, it promises to be a cornerstone of the community for years to come.

For more information about memberships and programs, visit your local YMCA or stop by for a tour.
