Piedmont Walton Auxiliary Awards 2025 Sara D. Hanes Scholarship to Sarah Wellborn

Monroe, Ga. — Piedmont Walton Hospital’s Auxiliary has announced Sarah Wellborn as the 2025 recipient of the prestigious Sara D. Hanes Scholarship. Selected from a competitive pool of applicants, Wellborn will receive a $1,000 scholarship to support her pursuit of a career in healthcare.

A Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) student at Athens Technical College, Wellborn has maintained a 4.0 GPA while working full-time. Her dedication to excellence has earned her membership in the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and recognition on the All-Georgia Academic Team. She is on track to graduate in May 2026.

This marks the third year the Sara D. Hanes Scholarship has been awarded. Established in 2023, the scholarship honors Sara D. Hanes, who founded the Piedmont Walton Auxiliary in 1970, and aims to support local students preparing for careers in the medical field.

The Auxiliary continues to play a vital role in supporting Piedmont Walton Hospital through volunteer service and community programs.
