Walton County residents are being warned about unofficial voter registration notices that may contain outdated information or attempt to collect personal details.
The Walton County Board of Elections says third-party companies are contacting voters through mail, email and text messages. Some of these communications may appear to be official election notices, even though they were not sent by the county or another government election office.
The notices may falsely claim that a resident is not registered to vote, provide inaccurate registration information or ask the recipient to submit personal information.
Election officials are encouraging residents not to respond to unsolicited communications or provide sensitive information until the source has been verified. Anyone who receives a questionable notice should confirm their voter registration through an official government resource.
Georgia voters can check their registration status, polling location and other election information through the state’s official My Voter Page at mvp.sos.ga.gov.
