CHATHAM COUNTY, Ga. — December 16, 2025 The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old Loganville teen discovered outside an apartment complex in Chatham County.
GBI agents were requested by the Bloomingdale Police Department to assist with the investigation into the death of Antonio Thornton Jr., authorities said.
According to investigators, Chatham County 911 received a call at approximately 7:43 a.m. on December 14 reporting a body outside the Magnolia Lane Apartments along U.S. Highway 80 in Bloomingdale. Responding officers located Thornton suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Thornton’s body was transported to the GBI Crime Lab in Pooler, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the official cause and manner of death.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
