Loganville, GA — The woman critically injured in Friday afternoon’s shooting outside the CVS Pharmacy on Atlanta Highway has died, according to Loganville Police Chief Dick Lowry.
The victim has been identified as Kimberly Whaley, 62, of Loganville. She was shot in the head in the parking lot of the CVS at 4377 Atlanta Highway around 1:55 p.m. on Friday, November 14, 2025. Emergency responders treated Whaley on scene and airlifted her to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, where she remained in critical condition before passing away on Sunday afternoon.
Authorities say a person of interest was detained by Lawrenceville Police shortly after the incident, following a BOLO issued by Loganville Police. The suspect was located via license-plate camera systems and taken into custody without incident, but no charges have been filed as of this time.
Loganville Police have not released a motive and continue to investigate the circumstances of the shooting.
Anyone with information related to the case is urged to contact Sgt. Clint Kitchens at the Loganville Police Department at 770-466-8087. CVS representatives confirmed the store was temporarily closed Friday during the investigation. No additional details have been provided regarding its reopening.
