LOGANVILLE, GA — On Friday, March 13, the community gathered at Graystone Church for the 8th Annual Gala-Q benefiting Special Kneads and Treats, Inc., an organization dedicated to empowering special needs adults through meaningful employment and community outreach.

This year’s Gala-Q embraced a medieval knight theme, symbolizing bravery, resilience, and the triumph over adversity—values that closely reflect the mission of Special Kneads and Treats. The atmosphere was brought to life with the presence of knights from Medieval Times, adding a memorable and immersive element to the evening.

The event began with an exclusive cocktail hour honoring long-time sponsors whose continued generosity has played a vital role in sustaining the organization’s mission. Guests then enjoyed a catered dinner prepared by The Master’s Table, setting the stage for a night of inspiration and community connection.

Following dinner, attendees heard from several speakers, including founder Michael Kohler, whose vision established Special Kneads and Treats as a cornerstone of support for special needs adults in the region. Additional remarks came from key donors and members of the bakery’s workforce, offering heartfelt insights into the daily impact of the organization’s programs.

A highlight of the evening was the live auction, which featured an extensive selection of items. Guests had the opportunity to bid on signed sports memorabilia, artwork from local artists, curated gift baskets, and exclusive vacation packages, all donated to support the cause.

The fundraising goal for this year’s Gala-Q was set at $500,000, reflecting the organization’s growing reach and the increasing demand for its services.

Special Kneads and Treats, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Lawrenceville, provides job training and employment opportunities for special needs adults in a safe and supportive environment. Through hands-on work in the bakery, participants gain valuable skills, confidence, and a sense of purpose.

Central to the organization’s mission is its “Cakes for Kiddos” program, which ensures that every child—regardless of financial circumstances—can celebrate their birthday with a cake. Partnering with local food cooperatives, foster care organizations, and community groups, the program extends its reach to families, seniors, and individuals in need.

Grounded in Christian, family-oriented values, Special Kneads and Treats continues to serve the community by combining compassion, service, and opportunity. Events like the Gala-Q not only raise critical funds but also highlight the powerful impact of inclusion and support for individuals of all abilities.

As the evening concluded, attendees left with a renewed sense of purpose and appreciation for the work being done—reminded that, much like the knights celebrated throughout the night, courage and compassion can truly change lives.
