Loganville Community Mourning the Loss of Loganville High Football Player Gunnar Redding Bible

Loganville community mourns beloved Red Devils football player after courageous battle with serious illness.

LOGANVILLE, GA — The Loganville community is grieving the heartbreaking loss of Gunnar Redding Bible, a 16-year-old Loganville High School student-athlete whose courageous fight against multiple serious illnesses inspired classmates, coaches, friends, and families across the area.

Gunnar passed away on May 27, 2026, after battling Guillain-Barré syndrome, pneumonia, and lupus. Throughout his difficult medical journey, those closest to him described him as strong, resilient, and determined — qualities that left a lasting impression on everyone around him.

A member of the football program at Loganville High School, Gunnar was known not only as an athlete, but as a young man whose strength and spirit continued to shine even during unimaginable hardship. As word spread through the community about his condition, support quickly poured in from fellow students, parents, teachers, teammates, and local residents.

Prior to his passing, Gunnar had been hospitalized at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta as his condition became increasingly severe. According to information shared by his family, complications from Guillain-Barré syndrome eventually left him unable to move his limbs, requiring the use of a respirator and intensive medical care.

Despite the devastating circumstances, the Loganville community came together in extraordinary ways to support Gunnar and his family.

On Sunday, May 31, hundreds gathered at Red Devils Stadium at Loganville High School for a balloon release held in Gunnar’s honor. Friends, classmates, teammates, coaches, and community members filled the stadium to celebrate his life, share memories, and show support for his mother, Teresa Redding, and their family.

The emotional tribute reflected just how deeply Gunnar impacted those

around him in his short life.

Loganville High School and members of the football program have also shared tributes honoring Gunnar’s courage, character, and the strength he displayed throughout his battle. Many in the community have described him as an inspiration whose perseverance touched far

beyond the football field.

During Gunnar’s hospitalization, his mother created a GoFundMe campaign to help cover mounting medical expenses and prepare for the possibility of bringing Gunnar home, including potentially moving into a single-story home to accommodate his medical needs. Following his passing, the fundraiser is now also helping the family with funeral expenses.

As of publication, the fundraiser had raised $9,935 toward its $20,000 goal.
