Grayson High School has once again secured its place among the country’s football elite, earning the No. 6 spot in USA Today’s preseason Super 25 national rankings for the 2025 season. The Rams, based in Loganville, Georgia, are coming off an impressive year where they finished No. 7 in the final national standings, and expectations for the upcoming season are higher than ever.
According to USA Today, the Rams’ championship potential starts with an experienced and talented roster. Senior quarterback Travis Burgess returns to lead the offense, bringing poise and proven leadership under center. In the backfield, the team boasts a dynamic duo of junior running backs — Ashton Turner and Joel Bradford — each of whom notched around 100 carries last season. On the defensive side, five-star linebacker Tyler Atkinson, the team’s leading tackler, anchors a unit that was a force to be reckoned with in 2024.
“All the ingredients are there for continued success,” the national outlet noted, citing the balance of returning talent and high-level playmakers. Still, the Rams face challenges heading into the season. The defensive line, a major strength in 2024, will need to be rebuilt after graduating four Division I-bound starters. Last year’s front was a nightmare for opposing offenses, amassing 199 tackles for loss and an astounding 59 sacks. Filling those gaps will be critical to maintaining the defensive dominance that has been a hallmark of Grayson football.
With a veteran quarterback, explosive runners, and a defensive leader in Atkinson, the Rams have their sights set on a deep playoff run — and perhaps even a national title. The community, known for its passionate support of the green and gold, will be watching closely as the 2025 season kicks off.
If the new defensive line can rise to the challenge, Grayson could be poised to climb even higher than No. 6 by season’s end. |
