LOGANVILLE, GA — Loganville residents should get ready to sing along when Departure returns to the Town Green for the August installment of Groovin’ on the Green.

Departure — The Journey Tribute Band will perform Friday, August 21, from 7:30 to 10 p.m. at Loganville Town Green, located at 235 Main Street. Admission is free.

The concert will bring some of Journey’s most recognizable music to downtown Loganville, including songs from the band’s celebrated run during the 1970s and 1980s. Fans can expect a night filled with familiar rock anthems and ballads such as “Don’t Stop Believin’,” “Separate Ways,” “Any Way You Want It,” “Faithfully,” “Open Arms” and “Wheel in the Sky.”

Departure has been performing together for more than 18 years and has built a national following by recreating the sound, appearance and energy of Journey’s classic era.

The veteran musicians reportedly perform more than 100 shows annually, with concerts featuring live music without prerecorded backing tracks. Lead vocalist Brian Williams models his performance after former Journey frontman Steve Perry, including the singer’s distinctive vocal style and stage presentation.

Friday’s performance will mark another return to Loganville for Departure, which has become one of the more popular recurring acts in the city’s outdoor concert series. The group appeared at Groovin’ on the Green in September 2025 and returns less than a year later for another night of classic rock.

Groovin’ on the Green was created to bring residents together through live music in the heart of downtown Loganville. The annual concert series takes over the Town Green monthly from May through September, attracting families, friends and music lovers from across the area.

Attendees are encouraged to arrive early and bring lawn chairs or blankets. Food and drink vendors will be available throughout the evening, while guests may also bring their own picnic. Beer and wine are permitted.

The current forecast calls for warm conditions Friday evening, with temperatures around 85 degrees when the concert begins and falling into the upper 70s by the end of the show. An afternoon thunderstorm is possible, so attendees should monitor the City of Loganville’s social-media pages for any weather-related announcements before heading downtown.

Departure is the fourth act in Loganville’s 2026 Groovin’ on the Green lineup. The season began with G Clef & The Playlist in May, followed by Bumpin’ The Mango in June and After School Special in July.

R&B Inc. will close the 2026 concert series on Friday, September 18.

Friday’s Departure concert begins at 7:30 p.m. at Loganville Town Green, 235 Main Street. Admission is free, and the music is scheduled to continue until 10 p.m.

Would be nice if there were more shaded spots on the Green. It gets so hot by 7:30.

Gary FultonAgreed, Gary. We always try to find a spot under the big trees but they fill up quick. Wish there were more options for shade too!
