Residents invited to donate new or gently used athletic gear to help local youth get in the game this Saturday at West Walton Park |

Local families have an opportunity this weekend to make a direct impact on youth sports by participating in Sports Giveback 2026, a community sports equipment drive aimed at helping children get in the game.
The event will take place Saturday, February 7, 2026, beginning at 9 a.m., at West Walton Park. Organizers will be set up near the cages at the picnic table heading toward the larger fields. Look for balloons and posted signs to easily spot the drop-off location.
Sports Giveback 2026 encourages residents to donate new or gently used athletic equipment they no longer need. Items such as balls, bats, gloves, protective gear, and other sports essentials will be redistributed to children who may not otherwise have access to the equipment required to participate in organized sports.
The drive reflects the spirit of “playing it forward” — giving sports gear another season and another purpose. By clearing out garages and closets, families can help ensure that more kids in the community have the chance to stay active, build confidence, and experience the teamwork and discipline that sports provide.
Organizers stress that even small donations can make a big difference. Every piece of equipment collected helps remove barriers to participation and supports healthier, more inclusive youth athletics.
Residents with questions or who need additional information are encouraged to contact Michelle Schuler at 678-414-1668.
Community members are invited to stop by, donate, and be part of an effort that turns unused gear into new opportunities for local youth. |
