The City of Loganville recognized one of its own this week as Jacob Morrow, a captain with the Loganville Fire Department, was named 2025 Firefighter of the Year—an honor voted on by fellow firefighters.
The award was formally presented during Thursday’s Loganville City Council meeting, underscoring the significance of the recognition not only within the department, but also in front of the community the department serves every day.
Captain Morrow, who was promoted to captain in July 2025, was selected based on multiple nomination letters written by his peers. Those letters consistently highlighted his strong communication skills, unwavering peer support, and willingness to step forward when leadership is needed. Fellow firefighters cited his initiative, hands-on training approach, and commitment to ensuring those around him are prepared, supported, and heard.
Firefighters noted that Captain Morrow leads by example—balancing authority with approachability—and is often the first to offer guidance, instruction, or encouragement. His ability to foster trust and teamwork within the department was repeatedly emphasized as a defining reason for his selection.
The award was presented by Tim Johnson, who praised Captain Morrow’s leadership and dedication to both the department and the citizens of Loganville.
Captain Morrow was joined at the ceremony by his wife and their two children, making the moment a proud family milestone as well as a professional achievement.
The Firefighter of the Year award reflects the respect of Captain Morrow’s peers and the impact of his service behind the scenes—training, mentoring, and leading with purpose. For Loganville, it serves as a reminder that strong community safety begins with strong leadership, earned daily through commitment, integrity, and teamwork. |
