Loganville has a new reason to head downtown this weekend: the opening of the O’Kelly Memorial Library at 210 Main Street.

The library will celebrate its grand opening Saturday, Sept. 19, inviting residents to explore its new home and mark a milestone for a familiar community institution. The move brings the library from its longtime location on Conyers Road into the heart of downtown Loganville.

Saturday’s celebration will include a ribbon cutting, guest speakers, light refreshments, giveaways and other activities. Families will also have a chance to enjoy a Ken Scott Magic Show at noon.

For longtime patrons, the opening offers an opportunity to get acquainted with a new setting for their library visits. For those who haven’t stopped by in a while, it’s an invitation to rediscover a local resource for reading, learning and connecting with neighbors.

O’Kelly Memorial Library remains part of the Azalea Regional Library System, which serves Walton County and surrounding communities.

The grand opening is only the beginning of the activity planned for the Main Street location. Just two days later, the Walton County Master Gardeners will launch a free Fall Garden Talk series, offering practical information for residents interested in making the most of their gardens through fall and beyond.

Each session runs from 2 to 3 p.m.:

• Friday, Sept. 25: Fall Vegetable Garden
• Monday, Sept. 28: Made in the Shade
• Monday, Oct. 5: Plants Toxic to Pets & Livestock
• Monday, Oct. 19: Winter Sowing

The series gives residents another reason to return after Saturday’s festivities, with topics ranging from choosing plants for shady spaces to preparing for future growing seasons.
